In the early hours of May 23, the first direct flight carrying 377 passengers from Moscow, Russia officially landed at Da Nang International Airport, marking a significant milestone in the recovery and rapid growth of the Russian tourism market in Central Vietnam.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this was the first charter flight operating a direct route between Moscow and Da Nang. The service is being jointly operated by Anex Tour Vietnam in collaboration with Vietjet Air.
Upon arrival, the Russian visitors received a warm Vietnamese welcome with traditional conical hats, souvenir gifts, and lively performances featuring Vietnamese folk instruments. The festive reception reflected Da Nang’s growing efforts to create memorable first impressions for international travelers.
After leaving the airport, the guests were transferred to a collection of luxury beachfront resorts and hotels along Da Nang’s stunning coastline, one of the city’s strongest attractions for international tourism.
According to Anex Tour Vietnam, the expansion of charter flight operations throughout 2026 is expected to play a major role in reviving the Russian and CIS tourism markets while also creating new momentum for the tourism industry in Central Vietnam, particularly in Da Nang.
Following a series of tourism promotion campaigns and marketing activities in Russia and CIS countries, visitor arrivals from the region have been increasing rapidly. In the first four months of 2026 alone, Da Nang welcomed more than 142,000 visitors from Russia and CIS nations, accounting for approximately 3.7% of the city’s total international arrivals — an increase of more than 20% compared to the same period in 2025.
Since the beginning of 2026, Da Nang has actively expanded its tourism promotion efforts across Russia and the CIS region. One of the highlights was the city’s participation in the MITT Moscow 2026, one of the largest tourism trade fairs in Russia and Eastern Europe, where Da Nang was honored as the “Most Outstanding Destination.”
The launch of direct charter flights from Moscow not only strengthens tourism connectivity between Russia and Central Vietnam, but also signals growing international confidence in Da Nang as one of Asia’s rising coastal destinations. With its luxury resorts, vibrant culinary scene, cultural heritage, and world-class beaches, Da Nang continues to position itself as a leading destination for Russian and international travelers seeking both relaxation and authentic experiences in Vietnam.
