BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024: Elevating Golf Tourism in Vietnam

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024, hosted by the city of Da Nang in collaboration with the BRG Group for the third consecutive year, boasts an impressive prize fund of USD 100,000.

Building on two successful editions, the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 is set to take place from August 29 to 31, 2024, at the prestigious Legend Da Nang Golf Resort. The event will feature 144 elite golfers from Vietnam and around the globe, promising a spectacular showcase of golfing talent.

Da Nang has solidified its position as a premier golf destination, leveraging its top-tier golf courses and the robust growth of golf tourism in key international markets. Recognizing the strategic importance of golf tourism, Da Nang recorded a total of 88,502 rounds of golf at its three courses in the first half of 2024, marking an increase of over 4,000 rounds compared to the same period in 2023. The Legend Danang Golf Resort led the way with more than 59,000 rounds.

A city representative remarked, “Hosting the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang for three consecutive years (2022-2024) reaffirms Da Nang’s status as Asia’s leading destination for events and festivals. This milestone is crucial in developing the city’s potential to become a top golf tourism destination in Asia and worldwide, aligning perfectly with our strategy to promote high-quality tourism.”

In 2024, the BRG Group will continue its role as the title sponsor. The prize for this third season remains at USD 100,000, with SeABank contributing USD 25,000. The Sheraton Grand Danang Resort & Convention Center, a world-class resort, will serve as the official hotel for the tournament.

At the event, Mr. Mark Reeves, Deputy General Director of BRG Group, shared, “The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang, which we sponsor and host in Da Nang, is a key part of our strategy to elevate Da Nang as a premier golf tourism destination both regionally and globally. This regional-level tournament provides a solid foundation to inspire Vietnamese golfers, allowing them to compete directly with top talents from the region and chart a clear path towards professional golf. On behalf of our Chairwoman, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, I can proudly say that our partnership with the Asian Tour in these elite golf events showcases the best that Vietnam has to offer in this field.”

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 marks the seventh leg of the Asian Development Tour, sanctioned by the Asian Tour.

Mr. Ken Kudo, CEO of the Asian Development Tour, expressed his pleasure at the return of the tour to Da Nang: “I am delighted that the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang has become an eagerly anticipated annual event in our schedule. We are grateful to our title sponsor, BRG Group, along with partner SeABank and the organizers supporting Da Nang tourism, for ensuring the return of one of our key events. This marks a significant step forward for the Asian Tour in the promising golf market of Da Nang, Vietnam. I also extend my gratitude to the Da Nang city government, the Da Nang tourism sector, and the Vietnam Golf Association for their efforts in actively promoting the event and providing the best conditions for the Asian Development Tour.”

Mr. Kudo also noted that the tournament has seen the emergence of many young champions and has become increasingly popular among ADT members. Many young golfers are eager to challenge themselves at the Legend Da Nang Golf Resort and aim to lift the trophy, marking a promising career in the Asian Development Tour.

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang is a testament to the collaborative efforts to promote Da Nang’s golf tourism and revive the tourism economy post-COVID-19. The tournament is being held for the third time, following two successful previous editions.

Additionally, as part of the event, Da Nang city will organize a destination and golf tourism product survey program from August 27 to 30, 2024. This will include participation from golf tour operators from Taiwan (China), Australia, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries (Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia). The event will also feature a professional-amateur golf exchange tournament (Pro-Ams) and a Da Nang tourism experience program within the framework of the Championship.
