Da Nang – Ly Son Waterway Tourism Route to be Opened from March 29th

On the morning of March 15th, at a meeting to deploy plans on developing inland waterway tourism, Deputy Chairman of the City People’s Committee – Mr. Tran Phuoc Son – requested departments, branches and localities to implement relevant procedures and tasks, work with Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company to put the Da Nang – Ly Son inland waterway tourist route into operation. The first departure will be at Song Han port on March 29th.

Deputy Chairman of the City People’s Committee – Mr. Tran Phuoc Son – also asked the Department of Transport and Department of Tourism to coordinate with localities and units to carry out relevant tasks preparing for the announcement of the inland waterway for wharf K20 (Co Co river) on March 29th; soon put into operation the waterway tourist routes at wharf CT.15 (Son Tra peninsula) and give instructions on the standards so that enterprises and ship owners can have plans to invest in engines and equipment for synchronous operation and safety…

Danang Management Board of Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment Project will study and make a plan for the construction of wharfs in the process of designing and constructing embankments along Cu De River in order to develop waterway tourism up to Nam Yen village, Hoa Bac commune (Hoa Vang district) while serving rescue and natural disaster prevention.

The People’s Committee of Hoa Vang district and Cam Le district need to coordinate to promote the development of waterway tourism along Cam Le and Tuy Loan rivers, especially tourism products on the banks near the wharfs for tourists’ purchases when stopping by. At the same time, outline specific instructions on the size of ships and boats for people and businesses to invest and exploit.

“At the present time, ship owners and businesses have a great demand for waterway tourism. Hence, departments, branches and units need to give specific guidelines, especially standards for people to invest and exploit. On the other hand, it is necessary to consider waterway tourism as a new and attractive tourism product. Departments, branches, localities and units need to enhance promotion, connection of tours, routes, especially ensure the consecutive operation of river tourism, remove the current time restriction; on the shores and wharves, there should be inspiring products to attract tourist to come, explore and experience”, said Mr. Tran Phuoc Son – Deputy Chairman of the City People’s Committee.

According to a report of the Department of Tourism, in the city, there are recently 10 enterprises operating waterway tourism with 28 ships in use and issued with standard signs to serve tourists. The total capacity is more than newly built 2,000 seats guaranteed to meet all requirements.

Lately, waterway tourism customers have mainly taken the route from Han River port to Tran Thi Ly bridge (accounting for 95% of the total number of tourists), the rest went on the Han River port – Hon Chao route.

The city has completed the construction of 4 boat terminals: CT.15, K20, Thai Lai, and Tuy Loan. In 2022 and 2023, the city has invested in building and upgrading 10 inland waterway ports and wharves.
