Da Nang International Airport implements automated immigration control system

On March 20, the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security officially received the Automated Immigration Control System (Autogate), marking a significant step in streamlining immigration procedures in Vietnam.

Sponsored by the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), the Autogate system is designed to expedite immigration procedures for passengers, alleviate the workload of immigration officers through a fully automated process, and enhance security with advanced biometric recognition technology.

Following its handover, the system has been officially operational at Da Nang International Airport, optimizing the flow of international passengers while ensuring accuracy and security in immigration control procedures.

Da Nang International Airport is also the first airport in Vietnam to achieve full automation in passenger processing, covering everything from airline check-in and baggage drop to immigration procedures and boarding gates.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Minh Loan, Head of Logistics at the Immigration Department, the implementation of the Autogate system aligns with the digital transformation trend, integrating cutting-edge technology into immigration management. This initiative enhances efficiency in immigration control and simplifies procedures for travelers.

Previously, in August 2023, the Immigration Department launched four automated immigration control gates and two registration counters at Da Nang International Airport. Throughout its operation, the department has collaborated with contractors to refine, adjust, and upgrade the system to continuously improve the efficiency of immigration procedures.

The expansion of the Autogate system will further simplify immigration procedures, significantly reduce processing time for passengers, ease the burden on immigration authorities, and enhance the overall travel experience for both Vietnamese citizens and international visitors to Vietnam,” Ms. Loan stated.
