The Narita (Japan) – Da Nang direct flight route officially resumed on March 26, 2023, operated by Vietnam Airlines. The first flight, VN319 from Narita, brought nearly 180 Japanese passengers to Da Nang.
A welcome program was held at the international arrival terminal of Da Nang International Airport, attended by the Japanese Consul General in Da Nang, leaders of the Tourism Department, the Central Airports Corporation, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment, and Operation Joint Stock Company, and representatives of the press.
Upon arrival in Da Nang, Japanese passengers were greeted with the traditional Yosakoi dance of Japan and an energetic performance on the song “Wonderful Da Nang”. Vietnam Airlines also offered three round-trip tickets for the Narita-Da Nang flight to three lucky passengers on the flight.
According to the Da Nang Tourism Department, Japan is identified as a key market for Da Nang’s tourism with stable growth. In 2019, the total number of Japanese visitors to Da Nang reached over 183,000, an increase of nearly 200% compared to 2015 (92,000 visitors). Since Vietnam opened its international tourism market in March 2022, Da Nang has welcomed about 27,000 Japanese visitors.
According to Vietnam Airlines, during the first phase from March 26, 2023, to June 30, 2023, the Narita-Da Nang flight route will operate four times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In the next phase, from July 1, 2023, Vietnam Airlines plans to operate daily flights with a frequency of seven flights per week to promote tourism and trade exchange between Japan and central Vietnam.
The resumption of the first regular flight route from Narita, the first locality in Japan, to Da Nang is expected to contribute positively to attracting Japanese visitors to Da Nang and vice versa in the future.
