Emirates, one of the world’s leading international airlines, has officially inaugurated its new route connecting Dubai and Da Nang, with four weekly flights commencing from June 2, 2025.
On the evening of June 2, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with Emirates Airlines, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), and other relevant partners, hosted a welcome ceremony for the inaugural flight EK370 from Dubai to Da Nang (with a transit stop in Bangkok), marking Emirates’ official presence in the city.
Flight EK370 landed at Da Nang International Airport at 7:50 PM, carrying 333 international passengers aboard a Boeing 777 – a wide-body aircraft offering three cabin classes. This marks the first of Emirates’ scheduled services on the Dubai – Bangkok – Da Nang route, with operations running four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
At the welcoming event, Mr. Trần Chí Cường, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasized the strategic importance of the new route. “With a network connecting over 140 destinations worldwide, this new route significantly shortens the distance between Da Nang and key markets such as the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Africa. It will not only boost tourism but also open doors for cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange,” he noted.
This route is particularly significant as Da Nang pilots new special policies and mechanisms under Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15, aiming to establish itself as an international financial center and a free trade zone – gradually positioning the city as a new growth driver for Vietnam.
In preparation for this expansion, Da Nang has been proactively investing in infrastructure upgrades, enhancing service quality, and training human resources to welcome tourists from emerging markets. The city is also promoting investment in Halal-certified services and organizing training programs to better meet the preferences of travelers from the Middle East.
Mr. Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President for Passenger Sales and Country Management, stated: “The launch of this route represents a major milestone in Emirates’ Southeast Asia growth strategy and underscores our commitment to providing seamless connectivity in support of Vietnam’s long-term tourism and trade objectives.”
Simultaneously, at the International Arrival Terminal of Da Nang International Airport, the city organized a warm welcome ceremony for passengers aboard the inaugural flight. Upon landing, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute.
Passengers were treated to traditional Vietnamese cultural performances and received fresh flowers and commemorative gifts – a heartfelt gesture showcasing Da Nang’s hospitality and reinforcing its image as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination.
Emirates is recognized as the largest airline in the Middle East, operating an extensive global network with up to 4,100 flights weekly from Dubai International Airport to over 140 cities across more than 80 countries. In addition to passenger services, Emirates is also highly regarded for the safety and quality of its cargo operations.
In Vietnam, Emirates currently operates 25 flights per week: seven flights on the Hanoi – Dubai route, 14 flights on the Ho Chi Minh City – Dubai route, and now four flights per week on the newly launched Da Nang route.
