Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has just signed Official Dispatch No. 416/CD-TTg dated May 13, 2022 of the Prime Minister on the suspension of SARS-CoV-2 virus tests before entering Vietnam.
The Dispatch stated: According to the announcement of the World Health Organization, both the number of cases and fatality rate of Covid-19 tend to draw down on a global scale and the basic vaccines are still effective against variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Many countries and territories have gradually relaxed anti-epidemic measures, including COVID-19 testing requirements for entry.
To ensure the application of epidemic prevention and control measures, meanwhile create favorable conditions to promote socio-economic recovery and development activities in accordance with the spirit of the Government’s Resolutions, the Prime Minister command:
1. Temporarily suspending the requirement on SARS-CoV-2 tests before entering Vietnam from 00:00 on May 15, 2022. The Ministry of Health closely monitors the epidemic situation and promptly guides measures appropriate epidemic prevention and control.
2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be in charge of directing overseas Vietnamese agencies to notify persons wanting to enter Vietnam to comply with the requirements for epidemic prevention and control under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
