The Vertical Reciprocating Span Bridge – Nguyen Van Troi

Following the uniqueness of the Han river bridge, Nguyen Van Troi will be the second bridge over the Han river to be exploited by Da Nang city for tourism. The bridge spans will be raised/lowered once a day on weekends, and holidays, and only allows the locals and tourists to be on foot.

On 10/5, The Department of Transport of Da Nang city announced that they have reported to The People’s Committee of the city about making Nguyen Van Troi a pedestrian bridge, its spans will be vertically reciprocated, to serve the tourists.

On 17th May 2022, The People’s Committee of the city issued document no. 2663/UBND-SGTVT about the exploitation plan for Nguyen Van Troi bridge, based on the proposals of The Department of Transport and The Department of Tourism. For more detailed information:
Raise/lower the spans of the bridge once a day on weekends and holidays, from 16h00 to 18h00. The plan will be piloted in – the first 02 weeks of June 2022 to evaluate its performance.

To guard against dangers and keep the bridge a safe place, there will be no more than 200 people on one span. Parades are also prohibited.

In addition, The People’s Committee of the city ordered The Department of Transport to install rule boards at the bridge ends so that visitors can be well informed.

Alongside it, Da Nang city’s Public Security will collaborate with Danang Bridge and Road joint-stock company and direct the police forces in district 3, Hai Chau, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, to place barriers at both ends when raising/lowering the bridge spans to ensure safety.

Nguyen Van Troi bridge was built in the 1960s and has 14 spans with a total length of 513.8m and 10.5m wide. This is the first bridge built over the Han river.

After the reunification of the country, the bridge was granted the name of the Quang region hero – Nguyen Van Troi. It then got repaired to meet the travel needs of people and was considered the arterial road that connects two coasts of the Han river.
