Vietnam Airlines has officially inaugurated its first direct flight route linking Da Nang (Vietnam) with Osaka (Japan), operating four flights per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
According to Vietnam Airlines, the inaugural flight VN337 departed Osaka at 9:30 AM on July 3rd and landed at Da Nang International Airport at 12:25 PM the same day. Prior to this, flight VN336 had taken off from Da Nang to Osaka at 1:10 AM, carrying nearly 100 passengers.
To mark the launch, Vietnam Airlines organized special welcome activities for passengers at both destinations. The airline also collaborated with local authorities to host an official inauguration ceremony at Kansai International Airport, featuring cultural performances showcasing Japanese heritage and the participation of key partners and stakeholders.
A representative from Vietnam Airlines emphasized that this new route not only meets travel, family visitation, tourism, and business demands between the two cities, but also serves the Vietnamese community of over 50,000 people living in the Osaka area—one of the largest Vietnamese communities in Japan.
As the economic and tourism hub of the Kansai region, Osaka also offers easy connections to historic cities like Kyoto and Nara, further enhancing two-way travel potential.
The new Da Nang–Osaka route continues Vietnam Airlines’ long-term expansion in the Japanese market. Since launching its first flight to Osaka in 1994, the airline has grown its Vietnam–Japan network to 10 routes, operating more than 120 weekly flights connecting major Vietnamese cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang with Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Over the past three decades, Vietnam Airlines has completed over 100,000 flights between the two countries, transporting nearly 16 million passengers.
Looking ahead to 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to launch and resume 15 international routes to key markets including Japan, South Korea, China, India, Russia, the UAE, and Italy. This expansion aims to further boost trade, investment, cultural exchange, and tourism, supporting Vietnam’s national goal of attracting 22–23 million international visitors this year.
