On March 30, 2023, the direct flight from Vientiane (Laos) to Da Nang was officially launched by Lao Airlines. The first flight, QV317 from Vientiane (Laos), brought nearly 150 passengers to Da Nang.
Upon arrival in Da Nang, passengers on the flight were welcomed with a dragon water spraying ceremony and a lively lion dance performance. On this occasion, Lao Airlines also offered 03 round-trip flight vouchers for the Vientiane-Da Nang route to 03 lucky passengers on the flight.
According to Lao Airlines, the Vientiane-Da Nang route will be operated with the Airbus A320 aircraft, with a maximum capacity of 158 passengers and a scheduled duration of 01 hour 15 minutes. The flight frequency is 02 flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays. In addition, Lao Airlines is currently operating direct flights to 02 major cities in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. With these routes, Lao Airlines expects to connect and attract more passengers from countries such as South Korea and China, making Vientiane a transit point for visitors to Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular.
According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the Vientiane-Da Nang route is of great significance to Da Nang’s tourism industry, not only connecting Da Nang with the Laotian tourist market but also linking Da Nang with the tourism markets in the Northeastern region of Thailand. In 2022, Laos ranked 10th in the top 10 main tourist markets of Da Nang, with nearly 10,000 visitors, accounting for 2.1% of the total number of tourists to Da Nang.
Attracting new direct flight routes from various markets helps diversify Da Nang’s tourism market and attract more tourists to the city in the coming years.
