Linh Ung Pagoda: A Great Tourism Destination In Da Nang

Linh Ung Son Tra Pagoda was built in July 2004, and officially inaugurated on July 30, 2010. Since then, the pagoda is still upgraded and built with more items. It is not an exaggeration that Linh Ung Pagoda Bai But is the largest and the most beautiful pagoda in Da Nang. It is 693 meters above sea level, with a total area of 20 ha.

The pagoda is a complex of many items including the main hall, the lecture hall, the ancestor’s house, the library, and especially, the highest statue of the Goddess of Mercy in Vietnam. On top of that, the pagoda features perfect harmony between the traditional and modern architectures of Vietnamese pagodas, with a three-entrance gate, the main chamber and the ancestors’ house.

An Old Stories About The Buddha Realm

It is no coincidence that Linh Ung Pagoda is called the Buddha realm. From a long time ago, Son Tra peninsula has been known as a place of harmony between the mountains and the river, with the murmur of the wind about an old story.

It has been said that at the time of King Minh Mang, local fishermen found a Buddha statue that came from waves and hit the sand. They immediately established worship since they thought it was auspicious.

After that, the waves at the sea are calmer, and the fishermen have a stable and peaceful business. Since then, that place is called Bai But, also known as the Buddha realm between the world. It is where the Goddess of Mercy blessed poor people, helping children.

Special Things About Linh Ung Pagoda

On the way to see Linh Ung pagoda, visitors will pass a giant 3 doors gate. After climbing all the stone steps leading to the pagoda, through the main gate, right above the main entrance are the wide spacious courtyard, with beautiful bonsai trees and statues. Inside the large hall, right in the middle is the statue of Buddha. On the left is Tripitaka, while on the right is Guan Yin Bodhisattva (Goddess of Mercy).

There are also four Dharmapala Gods and 18 Arhat arranged to protect the main hall of Linh Ung Pagoda, which symbolizes folk beliefs. In addition to the main hall, the pagoda also has a lecture hall, a house, a long road and a library… Some other auxiliary works are still under construction.

The Highest Goddess of Mercy Statue In The Top Of The Mountain

The statue stands out with its majestic design. Its back against the mountain, facing the sea. The gentle eyes looked down, one hand held the nectar of water as a peaceful sprinkler, the other hand caught the samadhi. At night, it is illuminated in the sky, and you can see it from almost everywhere in Danang.
The statue is the work of two famous sculptors, Chau Viet Thanh and Thuy Lam. Under the statue, there are 17 floors. Each floor has an altar that worships a total of 21 Buddha statues with different shapes, postures, faces, called “Middle Buddha Buddha.”

The Spectacular View From Linh Ung Pagoda

From Linh Ung Pagoda, the view will be surrounded by the blue sky and the blue sea, along with white sandy beaches running endlessly, the mountains glistening under the soft sunshine and white clouds.
