At the meeting on July 15, 2022, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the City People’s Committee, approved the proposal of Tri Nam Group Joint Stock Company to deploy an urban bicycle service in Da Nang city.
The period of trial is 12 months from the date of commissioning. The rental price of the bike proposed by Tri Nam Group is a one-way ticket: 5000 VND/30 minutes; a day ticket: 50,000 VND/day. This price applies to all residents of Da Nang. The service fee for tourists to Da Nang using public bicycles will be a one-way ticket: 10,000 VND/30 minutes, and a day ticket: 100,000 VND/day.
Bicycles are fitted with a smart lock system that is inseparable from the GPS-enabled vehicle. The bike is unlocked or closed by using the TNGO smartphone app to scan the QRCode printed on the lock. Users install the TNGO application on their phone, then register and log in to an account with their phone number, and can pay via Momo, Zalo, Viettel, and VTCPay e-wallets.
During the move, users can temporarily lock the bike and reopen it when they need to go for a coffee or a shop. When the trip is completed, the user can return the bike at any station.
Through central software monitoring, the monitor team tracks the vehicle’s travel route and receives warnings on the system when there are violations such as running over time, not returning the bike to the station, not locking the bike after using, and robbing the bike, etc.
After a trial year, the Da Nang Department of Transport will summarize, evaluate and report to the City People’s Committee for consideration and decision. They will replicate the model if the public bicycle service is successful. This proposal will contribute to limiting the need to use personal motor vehicles and reduce environmental pollution, towards a sustainable green transport system.
